IDL Instrument Web Interface
One example of how information may be transmitted to and from and experiment is using the Web. The device at the right is a webserver, capable of displaying data from an experiment in real-time and sending user commands to the experiment.
At the same time, a raw TCP connection can be used to stream raw data from an experiment.
This unit, the IDL Instrument Web Interface (IWI) is used in remote sites at the South Pole and in Utah.
A sample group of screens, developed for interactive control of remote power systems, are also shown.
Other modules can be substituted:
- USB, RS232, and RS485 can all be used to move data between a computer and the experiment.
- A Zigbee adapter is easily substituted and makes possible data capture from a distributed array of sensors.
