ARA Surface Antenna

After a broadband antenna was designed for cosmic ray research by Marie Piasecki, an engineer working with the IDL and the Besson group, and several students, the IDL developed a manufacturable version, known as the "Death Ray." 

A group of antennas were assembled, tested and shipped to the site.  The front-end amplifier (not shown) was also built in the IDL.

On one of the units (lower right), we included the artistic side and invited two 4-year-old girls to express themselves using the supports as a painting surface.
