Tunka Pulser

Siberia, Russia

For calibration of antennas for a Radio Air Shower Array, the IDL constructed a high-voltage calibration unit.

The Tunka pulser delivers short pulses (10s of ns) which deliver broad-band energy for calibration.

The unit also has frequency synthesizers to generate CW signals, also useful for characterizing detector systems.

Autonomous operation, without a computer, was required.  The pulser has its own display and 4-button keyboard for setting variables.

The Tunka project is located SW of Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia.

Dave Besson is PI of this project.
